My name is Julia Brown, and I am a wife, mother, public health professional, birth doula and newborn photographer. While pregnant with my second child, I was deeply impacted by losing a dear friend during childbirth. I decided to combine my love for public health and photography to bring awareness to maternal and infant health disparities and document the beauty of all pregnancies, births, babies, and families. Beyond birth offers birth doula services. We also specialize in birth and newborn photography.

We are working hard to create a space of belonging that improves health outcomes for all birthing people and their partners and encourages thriving families and communities.

Whew, we know what you’re thinking. “That seems like a huge task”. It is, but we’re not doing it alone. That is where our clients come in.

We accomplish this by documenting our stories and engaging in dialogue about both the beauty and complexities of creating life.
